Welcome to stage 2 of the 2008 Tour of Britain, our third consecutive visit to the South East region for a stage supported by the regional development agency SEEDA. After the previous days fast and furious battle around the streets of London, stage 2 will offer the riders the first real opportunity to create major time gaps and will set the stage for the remainder of the week.
Milton Keynes will be the host venue for the start of Stage 2 of the race, but will also host the staff, team personnel and riders in the days leading up to the race making this race HQ and a great place to come star spotting in the days running up to the start.
The actual start of stage 2 will take place in front of Milton Keynes Central station with the riders completing a loop of the town centre before heading out via Bletchley and on towards Aylesbury
The beautiful market town of Newbury is a location better known for racing on four legs than two wheels. But that’s all set to change in 2008 as the town welcomes The Tour of Britain for the first time in its long and distinguished history.
The run in to the town will be the culmination of a fast and furious route that takes in some of the most stunning scenery that Berkshire and the South East has to offer, the race is not the hilliest of this years tour, but there are plenty of challenges along the way to ensure that a worthy winner is welcomed into Newbury on September 8th.
