12/09/2009 – Stage One Update

Phew!  What a stage! 

Beautiful sunshine, great action and of course fantastic crowds all the way from the start in Central Park at Scunthorpe to York where there was an exciting finish with the sprint going right down to the line.

Ashby, Burringham, Pocklington…to be fair we could list just about every town or village we passed through and even some more remote spots in betwwen.  So thanks for your great support, it really is appreciated!  Also it looks like North Lincolnshire and Yorkshire and Humberside have set the standard pretty high, ...

11/09/2009 – The Tour kicks off!

Hi all - it's been a while since my last post. And for good reason! Have been travelling around the UK meeting with all the local partners for The Tour and even managed to get a day out in the saddle with Dean Downing (brother of Tour of Ireland winner, Russel).

22/07/2009 – Teams announced for 2009

Well, nine out of the 16 teams taking part in this year's Tour of Britain to be exact. The organisers of The Tour this afternoon announced the names of the teams, but couldn't announce the names of the riders as these don't have to be confirmed until closer to the event I'm told.

That said, the teams you will have the pleasure in watching race on our British roads are:

03/07/2009 – Teams for 2009 Tour

Good news folks! A reliable source within The Tour of Britain crew has just informed me that they will very soon be announcing details of some of the teams that have signed up for the Tour this year. Haven't been given all the details but have been told that there are some big name teams taking part.

Tomorrow also sees the start to the Tour de France. For those of you who will be following the race, make sure to listen out for Graham Jones, Tour of Britain's route director, on Radio 5 Live Sports Extra as he'll be covering the race for them while travelling around France.

With this blog, I hope to provide you with some insight into ongoing activities of the team behind The Tour of Britain and the work they are doing in preparing for the best professional cycling race on British soil (if not the world).
